    As we head into a new week, let's take a look at the news from this past week.

    Foss Marine Terminal's proposal to expand its warehouse operation and develop a training center is one of seven under consideration by MassDevelopment. PACE will work in coordination with Foss to provide a training center that will give people an opportunity for careers in offshore wind.

    Three more people were shot in the Monte's Park area on July 14, a week after six people were shot in that area. All nine victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not said whether the shootings are related and that the investigation is active at this time.

    Seastreak began offering high-speed ferry service from New Bedford State Pier in 2005,  2023, 175,000 people were coming in and out of Seastreak's New Bedford State Pier terminal per year.

    As one of the seven current proposals for New Bedford State Pier's redevelopment, they want to keep business as usual.  They need their parking area but don't need any additional terminal space.

    'Madam Secretary' star worked in the kitchen at The Baker. Here's what happened.

    It was an exciting day at The Baker on Wednesday, July 17 when "Madam Secretary" actress and producer Téa Leoni surprised the staff with a visit to their bakery at 562 Pleasant St.

    During her visit, she partnered up with staff to make chocolate croissants and cinnamon buns, taking a video and photos to document the occasion.

    Controversial New Bedford Business Improvement District plan being withdrawn

    A proposal to establish a downtown business district where property owners kick in funds to make the area more attractive is being withdrawn by the petitioners.

    The Business Improvement District or BID drew 70 or so people to the City Council's June 10 Finance Committee meeting opposed to the plan, many viewing it as a move toward gentrification and pricing tenants out.

    Former New England Patriot visits New Bedford barber shop

    Former New England Patriots player Trey Flowers stopped in for a shave at Ink Barber on County Street on Wednesday, July 17.

    Robert Lee "Trey" Flowers III is a defensive end in the NFL and is currently a free agent.

    "Usually when celebrities are around, they want to go to someone who is already well-known and established. But he decided to come to me, and it was a great experience,"  said John Gilmete, also known as Ink Barber , owner of a shop at 230 County St.
