    Police Say Woman Conned a Local Giant Out of $1,000 in Activated Gift Cards

    New Britain Township police say the woman in this picture was able to steal about $1,000 of gift cards from a Giant by “manipulating” the store’s cashier and manager.

    NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA—Police are looking for a woman they say conned supermarket employees out of $1,000 of gift cards and then fled the store.

    The incident happened in the early evening hours of Saturday, July 20, at the New Britain Township Giant at County Line Road and West Butler Avenue. A woman took gift cards to a cash register to activate and pay for them.

    Police said that the woman then “manipulated” the store’s cashier and manager into giving her a refund for the cards but without deactivating them. The woman then walked out of the store with about $1,000 of activated gift cards.

    Police also said that the women left the store without paying for the items in her shopping cart.

    Anyone with information on the woman is asked to call the New Britain Township police at 215-822-1910.
