    Elizabeth Man Facing Attempted Murder Charges After Joyce Kilmer Ave. Shooting

    Rafael Liriano-Olivo, 31, of Elizabeth, is facing attempted murder and other charges in connection with an early morning shooting on Joyce Kilmer Avenue.

    NEW BRUNSWICK – A 31-year-old Elizabeth man is facing attempted murder and other charges in connection with an early Thursday morning shooting.

    Rafael Liriano-Olivo has also been charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of a weapon without a permit, aggravated assault, possession of a defaced firearm and certain persons restricted from possessing weapons charges according to a statement from the New Brunswick Police Department.

    Police said they found a 28-year-old city man with a gunshot wound in his arm after reporting to 143 Joyce Kilmer Ave. on Thursday at about 7:37 a.m.

    Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from an argument between a group of men.

    Responding officers located Liriano-Olivo and took him into custody, the police said.
