Fatal crash on South Loop East under investigation by Houston police
HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5700 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) around 1:15 a.m. today. The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant D. Rose and Officer T. Smith reported that the male was driving a gold Toyota 4Runner eastbound on the main lanes of the freeway when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree in a wooded area between the freeway and the service road. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

Suspect identified after abandoned newborn found crying near Houston dumpster: Police
A suspect has been identified after an abandoned newborn was found crying by a dumpster in Houston, police said Wednesday. A person called 911 early Sunday afternoon reporting that they had heard a baby crying near a dumpster at an apartment complex, according to Houston Police Department spokesperson Jodi Silva. First responders found the infant in the dumpster area, Silva said. Video captured by a bystander showed first responders rescuing the baby from the dumpster and appearing to swaddle him in a blanket. The newborn was transported to a local hospital and is believed to be in good health, Silva said.
Human remains found in Utah during search for Pearland couple missing while hiking in Utah
According to the Grand County Sheriff's Office, authorities have found human remains in Utah, where they had previously been looking for a missing Pearland couple.Authorities found the remains in Millcreek Canyon on Monday.Ray and Maranda Ankofski were visiting the area for the third time on June 21 but went missing after embarking on the Steel Bender off-road trail.Officials said concerns arose when Ray and Maranda failed to return as scheduled, and their utility terrain vehicle (UTV) was found flipped over, abandoned, and heavily damaged.Officials say the remains have not yet been identified, and will be sent to Utah's medical examiner's office.The sheriff's office will release the identity of the remains once it's determined.RELATED: Search for Pearland couple missing while hiking in Utah is now a recovery search, authorities say

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) and the Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County (ALMAAHH) have launched a call for proposals from local Latinx artists.
