News came out earlier this week about an earthquake that rocked the Texas panhandle. The quake took place near Lubbock but was felt by many as far north as Amarillo. It was a magnitude 4.9 and it tied for the 8th strongest earthquake in Texas history, according to news reports coming out of Lubbock. Inflation Squeezes Texas Public Schools As State Funding Remains Stagnant
A small Texas school district is facing serious budget problems as state funding remains stagnant amidst rising inflation. The Dallas Morning News reported that the Sunnyvale school district paid just over $300,000 for property and casualty insurance in 2022 and now is expected to face a cost exceeding half a million dollars, while the state refuses to increase the public school funding.
