Since the pandemic, small towns and cities are more desired for movers than ever before.

With U.S Census Bureau data documenting this trend, certain factors have consistently drawn out the masses from the hustle and bustle of city life to a more serene lifestyle in smaller locations, some of which are found right here in the First State and add a few Delaware spots to a list of the most charming small towns in the nation.

High 5 Casino, a social online casino, created the Small Town/City Relocation Index, which used 22 key metrics to analyze data from 161 charming small towns and cities and rank them from most to least charming.

Locations were pulled from similar online rankings. The metric categories used for scoring are “essentials,” “lifestyle,” “housing” and “community,” with each individually graded on a 100-point scale and contributing to a total score of 100.

    • The “essentials” score has a weight of 37.5 and consists of cost of living, safety and the job market
    • The “lifestyle” score has a weight of 30 and consists of entertainment venues, access to nature, amenities and climates
    • The “housing” score has a weight of 17.5 and consists of home affordability and housing demand
    • The “community” score has a weight of 15 and consists of population density/age and access to healthcare and education
