Swimming pools at state parks throughout New York — including four in the Lower Hudson Valley — will have entry fees waived for the rest of the summer, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday.
The four locations in the Lower Hudson Valley are FDR State Park Pool in Yorktown, High Tor State Park Pool in New City, Rockland Lake State Park Pool in Valley Cottage and Bear Mountain State Park Pool in Bear Mountain.
A pilot program will also provide free sunscreen at New York State Park pools.
Parking fees will still apply at state park locations that include on-site parking, according to Hochul.
Tuesday's announcement was part of Hochul's "Get Offline, Get Outdoors" campaign "to promote physical and mental health by helping New York's kids and families to put down their phones and computers, take a break from social media, and enjoy recreation and outdoor social gatherings."
Also announced was a $1.5 million grant to help transport kids to swimming lessons.
