Plans are afoot to build housing at the historic Paramount Country Club in New City. Zoning changes would be needed, town officials have confirmed, but the owners haven't filed the request yet. Find our coverage here; what do you think?

Free swim: Swimming pools at state parks throughout New York have waived entry fees for the rest of the summer, and three are in Rockland. For the rest of the summer you can swim free at High Tor State Park Pool, Rockland Lake State Park Pool and Bear Mountain State Park Pool. You still have to pay for parking. But there's free sunscreen available! Find our coverage here.

Free rabies shots for pets: The Rockland Department of Health will hold a free rabies vaccinations clinic from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 14, at the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona. Dogs, cats and ferrets 3 months or older can get the shots; cats and ferrets should be brought in carriers. An appointment is required for each animal. You can register for appointments here or call 845-364-2656.
