New Concord came alive on Saturday for the annual Fireman's Festival.

Vendors from around the area lined the greenspace between the library and New Concord Elementary. Attendees shopped at Michelle's Hobby House, Guernsey Soap, Small Town Designs and more.

The John Glenn High School Marching Band had a stand selling cold drinks and raising money for the group, and the fire department tempted people with various raffles.

The parade kicked off at 1 p.m. and hosted several fire trucks from visiting townships and cities. South Zanesville, Washington Township, Pleasant City and Antrim were just a few that participated.

Two Clydesdale horses named Finn and Maverick stomped the ground at the library as visitors petted their soft noses and marveled at their enormous size. The horses are privately owned by Janet Yeagley of Salem, Ohio. Because the horses do not have the correct coloring, they were never part of the Budweiser cart-pulling team but Maverick was purchased from Anheuser Busch as a baby. Maverick was born in St. Louis and weighs in at roughly 2,000 pounds, while Finn, from Hermitage, Pennsylvania , weighs a light 1,800 pounds. Yeagley, who owns five Clydesdales, said, "They're like potato chips. You can't have just one."

Food trucks and bingo kept the crowd full and busy before Adam Calvert kicked off a free concert in the park. The day ended with a lawn full of residents enjoying fireworks to close out the day.
