Cordell’s graduating class of 1984 celebrated their 40th Class Reunion on Saturday, June 29th. They met at the Colcord Hotel in Oklahoma City. A great time was had by all attending. Cowden graduates celebrate 38th Annual Cowden School Reunion
Cowden School Alumni recently gathered for their 38th Annual Reunion. The festivities began at 2:00 on Saturday July 6th, 2024 at the Cowden Community Building with 35 attending. Everyone brought side dishes and/or deserts, Double6 from Weatherford provided the meat. Everyone enjoyed visiting and catching up. Delma Lamb and Jennifer Stovall were the registrars.
Crews Battle Elk City House Fire
According to fire officials, crews with B-shift were dispatched to the home in the 200 block of W. Parkview. There, they found heavy smoke and heavy fire coming from the garage area of the home. They were able to successfully contain the fire within minutes of arrival however it was reported that extensive damage did occur.
Boating Accident Injures Clinton Man
A Clinton man was injured after being involved in a boating accident on Lake Lugert in Greer County Wednesday afternoon. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident took place just after 4 p.m. Wednesday when while driving a Sea Doo, 41-year-old James M. Smith was struck by another Sea Doo driven by a 13-year-old female, also from Clinton.

Funeral services for Karen Kaye Crenshaw-Douglas, 61, of Clinton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, in the Cornerstone Church. She was born Aug. 18, 1962, in Clinton. She died July 3, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Elk City man charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation
A 34-year-old Elk City man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation. The arrest affidavit states that the alleged victim reported on June 26 that she had been assaulted and strangled on two separate occasions by Justin Edward Noblitt three days earlier.
