Smithsonian exhibit coming to Weatherford

Mrs. Annita Lavon Carrell
Mrs. Annita Lavon Carrell passed away on June 25, 2024, in Peachtree City, at the age of 83. She was born on April 12, 1941, in Hobart, Okla. Annita dedicated her life to education, serving as an educator for the Department of Defense. She worked in Japan, Philippines, and Okinawa teaching high school students of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Vernon Alva Slagle, 102, Weatherford, Okla., formerly of Manson, IA, passed away on June 18, 2024. Survived by wife Roberta; son Keith and Esther Slagle, Fort Dodge; daughters, Marilyn and Don Lind, Hutchinson, KS, Marlene and Ted Springer, Middlebury, Ind.; Cheryl Slabaugh, Chandler, Ariz.; Charlene Leaman, Manheim, Pa.;13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by first wife Lavern, son Phillip, son-in-law Glen Slabaugh.
