The nation's longest running exposition for Black women is celebrating its 29th anniversary August 2-4 at McCormick Place.The 2024 Black Women's Expo will feature over 25 impactful seminars, national speakers, and live main stage entertainment, as well as provide exposure for more than 300 small businesses and major corporations. With thousands of attendees from various cities, BWe is focused on the needs of Black women (mothers, wives, business owners, entrepreneurs) through topical seminars, workshops, corporate and small business exhibits and vital pavilions on health, wellness and careers.The Black Women's Expo is also an entertainment hub with celebrity meet & greets, local and national entertainment, and thus has become an effective vehicle to market to the African-American consumer. City of Crown Point celebrates family, community, local businesses at A Taste of Crown Point 2024 event
On the sunny evening of Friday, July 19, the City of Crown Point hosted the first day of its annual Taste of Crown Point event at Bulldog Park. Over 25 Crown Point-based food trucks and restaurants set up stalls to serve up their delicious products for attendees. This year’s installment of A Taste of Crown Point also featured live music, a splash pad, cornhole, and face painting. Crown Point residents and visitors from throughout the Region were in attendance. Mayor of Crown Point Pete Land believes that a Taste of Crown Point event is one of the most significant events the city puts on.

CHICAGO - Brookfield Zoo has announced the addition of several new animals, which includes emus, a sloth bear, and a puggle. In late June, three 3-month-old emus arrived at the Zoo. The one male and two females are adjusting to their outdoor habitat alongside kangaroos at Australia House. Emus, the second-largest birds in the world, are flightless and can sprint up to 30 mph, according to the zoo. The young emus have already gained 25% of their body weight in the past month.
