Rochester Police Department Celebrates Graduation of Citizen’s Police Academy

ROCHESTER, NH – The Rochester Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of the latest cohort from its 10th annual Citizen’s Police Academy, as detailed in a recent press release. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, marked the culmination of an intensive 11-week program that provided community members with a comprehensive look into the inner workings of their local police force.

Participants engaged in a variety of activities, including presentations by department employees, hands-on training sessions, sit-ins with dispatch, and ride-alongs with patrol officers. According to the Rochester PD press release, the academy is designed to give non-sworn citizens a thorough understanding of police operations covering various units such as forensics, SWAT, accident reconstruction, and the K9 unit.
