DOVER, NH — Mayor Robert Carrier has officially declared July as Plastic Reduction Month in Dover, continuing the city's annual commitment to combat plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability.

This declaration aligns Dover with global efforts to address the significant environmental and health risks associated with plastic waste. "The City of Dover is determined to mitigate the adverse effects of plastic pollution and align itself with international efforts to combat plastic-related pollution and health risks," stated Mayor Carrier.

In 2019, Dover's City Council passed a resolution supporting a city-wide voluntary initiative to reduce the use and distribution of non-biodegradable, single-use plastics. Following up, the city issued proclamations in 2021 and 2022 that called for voluntary reductions in single-use plastic consumption.

Mayor Carrier's proclamation for July 2024 urges both citizens and public entities to lessen their plastic usage and consider sustainable alternatives. Dover aims to demonstrate leadership in sustainability practices through these ongoing efforts.

For more information on how you can participate in Plastic Reduction Month and to learn more about sustainable alternatives, residents can visit Dover's municipal website or contact the Mayor's office directly.
