ROCHESTER, NH – The Rochester Fire Department, in partnership with the American Red Cross, is excited to announce the relaunch of the "Sound the Alarm" program. This crucial initiative provides free smoke alarms to both homeowners and renters in the Rochester area, aiming to bolster fire safety in local residences.

Fire & Life Safety Educator Maria Busuito-Lima emphasized the program's role in enhancing community safety. "Sound the Alarm is a cornerstone of our efforts to improve fire prevention and safety at home," said Busuito-Lima. "It’s more than just installing smoke alarms; it's about empowering residents with the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones."

Participants interested in receiving a no-cost smoke alarm can do so by filling out an application. Assistance with the application process is available through Maria Busuito-Lima, who can be reached at (603) 330-7160 or via email at maria.busuito-lima@rochesternh.gov.

The initiative underscores the Rochester Fire Department’s commitment to community safety and is supported by the American Red Cross’s nationwide campaign to reduce fire-related injuries and fatalities. Residents are encouraged to contact Busuito-Lima for more information or visit the Red Cross website at www.redcross.org to learn more about fire safety resources.

This proactive community service reflects an ongoing dedication to ensuring that every home in Rochester is equipped to handle fire emergencies effectively.
