ROCHESTER, NH — The Community Action Partnership of Strafford County (CAPSC) has announced that they have opened the Federal Fuel Assistance Program for the 2024-2025 season, aiming to support eligible households with their energy costs through the colder months. Applications are now being accepted, with priority given to households with members aged 60 or older, those with a documented disability, families with children under 6 years old, or households using wood as their primary heating source. Applications for other households will open on September 1, 2024.

In tandem with the fuel assistance program, CAPSC has also announced openings for two housing initiatives designed to provide affordable and safe housing solutions within the community.

The first initiative focuses on senior housing for individuals aged 62 and over. Available at the historic Gafney Home at 90 Wakefield Street in Rochester, these studio and one-bedroom apartments require tenants to be fully independent. Monthly rent ranges between $1,086 and $1,409, depending on income eligibility.

The second initiative is a women-only housing option located at 576 Central Avenue in Dover. This farmhouse-style rooming house is close to downtown Dover, offering convenience alongside the inclusion of utilities such as heat, hot water, and electricity in the rent. Eligibility for this housing is limited to individuals falling within the 50% and 60% HOME rent and income limits.

CAPSC is urging community members to spread the word about these valuable programs to ensure broad community access and benefit.

For more details or to apply, interested parties can visit CAPSC's website or call (603) 435-2500. Applications for both the fuel assistance and housing programs can be completed online, providing a streamlined process for community members in need.
