Washington Street Nightly Paving Begins August 4

Starting Sunday, August 4, 2024, Washington Street from Chestnut Street to Whittier Street will undergo paving operations, conducted by a city-appointed contractor. The paving will occur nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM throughout the week, dependent on weather conditions, according to the City of Dover.

Residents and visitors are advised that on-street parking will not be permitted from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM during the paving period. Vehicles in violation will be subject to towing to facilitate smooth operations and ensure safety.

Motorists traveling through the area should anticipate road closures and detours. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic and ensure that local traffic and emergency vehicles can access routes through the work zone as needed.

Prior to paving, the road will undergo full-width milling and the adjustment of castings. Drivers are cautioned to be aware of potentially raised structures before paving completion.
