LINCOLN, NH – Nestled in the picturesque White Mountains, Indian Head Resort has long been a destination for families and adventurers alike. Recently, our last-minute decision to extend a family trip led us to explore the rustic charms of the resort's historic cabins, which provided a delightful contrast to the typical hotel experience.

Built in the 1930s, the cabins at Indian Head Resort offer a quaint, "rustic" stay, as described by the helpful staff during the booking process. Our cabin, equipped with modern conveniences such as a TV, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, also featured a thermostat-controlled gas fireplace that added a cozy touch to the living area. The small screened porch, complete with chairs, would have offered a stunning view of the iconic Indian Head rock formation were it not for an overgrown bush—a small reminder of the untamed nature surrounding us.

The cabin's lighting was dim, creating a snug ambiance that complemented the simple full-sized bed in the bedroom and a compact bathroom with just a shower. While the bathroom floor showed signs of wear, indicative of the cabin's age with some rotting around the shower area, the overall condition of the cabin fit our needs perfectly.

The resort itself provided ample amenities. A stroll to the lake allowed us to enjoy included activities such as fishing and paddle boating, where we observed guests catching sizable trout. Both the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs were well-maintained, with the outdoor pool temperature just right for a relaxing dip framed by breathtaking mountain views.

Additional facilities included a modest arcade and a workout area near the pools, although the changing rooms could benefit from enhanced privacy features. Our exploratory walk continued to the main building where we visited a well-stocked gift shop offering a variety of reasonably priced trinkets and gifts.

Dining at the resort's onsite restaurant was a pleasant experience, with reasonably priced, generously portioned meals served against the backdrop of the stunning landscape. Although we didn't climb the viewing tower this time, it's on our list for a future visit.

Despite some concerns about maintenance issues like the exposed electrical wiring behind our cabin, the stay was memorable for its unique blend of nostalgia and natural beauty. The accommodating staff and the array of facilities made our additional night in Lincoln at Indian Head Resort not just a stay, but an experience we plan to repeat.
