WORCESTER, MA – The Worcester Arts Council (WAC) is pleased to announce that applications for its FY25 funding cycle are now open. Artists, nonprofits, educators, and public organizations are encouraged to apply for funding to support local arts and cultural programs in Worcester. The deadline to apply is October 16, 2024.

As part of the Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) network, WAC receives its funding annually from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). For FY25, WAC has been allocated $236,500 from MCC, an increase of $10,000 over last year’s funding. Additionally, the Greater Worcester Community Foundation (GWCF) will contribute another $10,000 to support WAC’s Fellowship Grants.

“MCC’s and GWCF’s unwavering commitment to advocating for and funding the arts in Worcester has been instrumental in fostering the vibrancy of our city's arts and culture scene,” said Cultural Development Officer Fabian Barracks. “Their support not only sustains but also amplifies the creative voices within our community, ensuring that Worcester remains a beacon of cultural innovation and inclusivity."

WAC offers two types of grants: Project Grants and Fellowship Grants.

    • Project Grants fund innovative projects and programs that provide public benefit, reach underserved populations, and demonstrate creative excellence.
    • Fellowship Grants offer support to Worcester-based artists to develop their work beyond a specific project structure.

“The Worcester Arts Council is thrilled to launch our FY25 grant cycle, and we’re eager to see the incredible projects and creative visions our community will bring to life,” said WAC Chair Sean Brennan. “This year’s increased funding supports WAC’s commitment to nurturing Worcester’s vibrant cultural landscape.”

WAC’s FY25 grant priorities are based on feedback from the community and include a focus on Public Art, Musical Performances, Arts Education & Instruction, and projects that promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Access (DEIA), especially for historically marginalized and underserved areas of Worcester.

The FY25 Grant Guidelines and application instructions are available online at worcesterma.gov/cultural-development/grants. All applications must be submitted online by October 16, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Late submissions will not be accepted. Decisions on funding will be made by January 2025.

WAC will also host a virtual Grant Workshop to assist potential applicants. First-time applicants are especially encouraged to attend. More information and updates can be found on WAC’s Instagram: @worcesterartscouncil.
