City of Rochester Begins Search for Christmas Tree for Central Square Display

ROCHESTER, NH - The Department of Public Works has officially begun its annual search for the perfect Christmas tree to be featured in the holiday display at Central Square. The city is inviting residents to donate a tree that will serve as the centerpiece for this cherished seasonal tradition.

“We always look forward to this event,” said Lisa Clark, Deputy Director of Operations & Administration at the Department of Public Works. “Anyone interested in donating a tree should contact the DPW by October 10, 2024.”

The City is seeking either a Balsam Fir or Blue Spruce in good condition, standing between 25 and 40 feet tall. Ideally, the tree should have a sole trunk with one top, avoiding split tops or trunks.

Location and ease of access are important considerations, according to Clark. “We try to avoid power lines or fencing that would need to be removed,” she explained, adding that SavATree Service has generously donated the removal of the tree from the donor's property.

The tree must be located within city limits. Those who have a tree they believe could be suitable for this year’s display are encouraged to contact the DPW at (603) 332-4096 for consideration.
