    City of Lynn Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Workshops, Flag Raising, and Salsa Lessons

    LYNN, MA – In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the City of Lynn is hosting a series of events to celebrate and recognize the rich cultural contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities. The events, which run from late September into October, aim to engage, educate, and entertain while fostering a sense of unity in the community.

    Financial Literacy Workshop – September 23, 2024

    Kicking off the celebrations is a Financial Literacy Workshop on September 23 at 5:30 PM. Presented by Eastern Bank, this virtual Zoom event is designed to help Spanish-speaking participants gain valuable financial insights and strategies. Topics include budgeting, saving, and managing money effectively. The session, conducted in Spanish, is part of the City’s broader effort to support financial well-being within the Hispanic community. Registration for the workshop is encouraged, and interested individuals can register by visiting the provided link.

    Hispanic Heritage Month Flag Raising & Procession – October 1, 2024

    On October 1, the City of Lynn will host the Hispanic Heritage Month Flag Raising & Procession at City Hall. The event begins at 5:30 PM and invites the community to join a parade that will feature flags representing the diverse Hispanic and Latino diaspora in Lynn. The procession will start at the front steps of City Hall, circle Lynn Common, and end back at City Hall for a brief program and flag-raising ceremony. Small flags will be provided to participants to show their support for the vibrant Hispanic community in the city.

    Salsa Dance Lesson – October 8, 2024

    Rounding out the celebrations is a fun and interactive Salsa Dance Lesson on October 8 at 5:30 PM in the Lynn Auditorium. Presented by the Cultura Latina Dance Academy (CLDA) and Eastern Bank’s Latines in Action Employee Resource Group, this free lesson will teach participants the basics of salsa and give everyone the opportunity to experience the joy of Latin dance. Whether you are a beginner or experienced dancer, this event promises to be a lively celebration of Hispanic culture.
