LOWELL, MA – The City of Lowell invites residents and visitors to participate in a Walk Audit of Central Street on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This event provides an opportunity for the community to review and provide feedback on the walkability of Central Street, a key area in Downtown Lowell.

A Walk Audit evaluates how accessible and friendly streets are for pedestrians, focusing on walking conditions, crossing intersections, and moving efficiently from one location to another. The feedback gathered during this event will help shape future improvements to ensure Lowell’s streets are safer, more comfortable, and accessible for everyone—regardless of age or mobility.

Participants will meet at the intersection of Central Street and Middle Street, in front of TD Bank. The total walking distance will be less than one mile, and refreshments, including water and snacks, will be provided.

This event coincides with National Pedestrian Safety Month, making it the perfect time for the community to engage and share their experiences. If you are unable to attend the walk on October 24, you can still contribute to the initiative by completing the Walk Audit route at your convenience and submitting your comments by October 31, 2024.

To register for the Walk Audit or to submit feedback, visit: Walk Audit Registration or Comment Form.

For more information, please contact the City of Lowell at walkaudit@lowellma.gov.
