Local News Blues: PSA: The Medill News Desert Map People Are Taking Corrections
Editor’s note: Check out the map for news outlets in New Hampshire. Some problems are obvious like they didn’t spell InDepthNH.org’s name correctly or mention that we cover all of New Hampshire, not just Strafford County where we are based. It does the same for the NH Union Leader listing it only in Hillsborough County even though it covers the state. The map doesn’t differentiate between those like InDepthNH.org that don’t have a paywall and those that readers have to pay to open. It doesn’t mention Patch.com at all. At least now, Medill is willing to make corrections. (see below). Thanks Local News Blues and founder Alice Dreger for this information. Funders and investors may make important decisions on the news needs of different parts of the country based on this map when it isn’t anywhere close to being accurate. Thanks, Nancy West, InDepthNH.org. Let me know at nancywestnews@gmail.com what you notice in the map and I will pass it on or see below how you can pass it on directly to Medill. https://localnewsinitiative.northwestern.edu/projects/state-of-local-news/explore/#/state-localnewslandscape?state=NH&stateCode=33.
