Floyd County Girls Among 16 Choose Iowa Coloring Calendar Contest Winners at Iowa State Fair
A pair of Floyd County girls are among just 16 Iowa students whose artwork has been selected for the 2024-2025 Choose Iowa Coloring Calendar. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig recognized the students Tuesday (08.13) during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair. The Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship received over 200 submissions from students 18 or younger across the state, with Sydney Kehret of Charles City and Paisley Ott of Marble Rock among the 16 winners.

North Iowa Man to Serve Up to 30 Years for Indecent Contact with a Minor
A North Iowa man could serve up to three decades in prison for having indecent contact with a minor. 38-year-old Richard Bush of Plainfield was initially arrested in May 2023 on charges of continuous sex abuse of a child, second-degree sexual abuse, and lascivious acts with a child, all felonies; plus assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and dissemination/exhibition of obscene material to a minor.
