Welcome Home is a Newton nonprofit that takes donations of lightly used household goods and gives them to people in need. Co-founder Mindy Peckler started the effort in 2016 with her friend, Julie Plaut Mahoney, who worked with older adults who were downsizing their homes and realized many of them had household items they would no longer need but that were still in good condition.
Man Indicted for Threating Officers in Laconia
Justin A. Spirko, charged in an April SWAT incident in Belmont, was indicted by a Belknap County grand jury for allegedly firing a crossbow toward a building. Spirko, 38, of Londonderry, was arrested by police in Belmont around 8 a.m. on April 7 and initially charged with threatening officers, reckless conduct, criminal mischief and resisting arrest during the service of a warrant.
