ILM, NCDOT put forth $3.4M to widen 23rd Street
WILMINGTON — The Wilmington International Airport (ILM) now has $3.4 million for an expansion project to the road that serves as its primary entryway. At the July 10 New Hanover County Airport Authority meeting, board members unanimously approved a $1-million contribution to the expansion of 23rd Street, the direct route to enter ILM’s campus. The widening project would only be for a portion of 23rd Street, from Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway to Castle Hayne Road.

Pet Pals: Adult female hound looking for forever home
WILMINGTON (WWAY) — This week’s Pet Pal is a 6-year-old female hound. New Hanover County Animal Services staff says she’s been at the shelter since May and is waiting for her chance at being adopted. Staff says she’s a typical hound and can be vocal, but has a happy personality and is food-motivated.
New Hanover Park Named Among Top NC Industrial Sites
A New Hanover County business park is included in a recently released list of North Carolina’s 15 top industrial sites under 1,000 acres. Holly Shelter Business Park in Castle Hayne is one of the sites identified in the Selectsite Readiness Program Report from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), a statewide economic development agency. The identified sites could receive increased development and marketing support from the state and the economic development partnership.

New Hanover High School is getting ready to undergo much-needed structural repairs, but advocates for the school say it needs a full renovation.
