    Abe Kaoud, owner of Kaoud Rugs in Connecticut, dies at 83

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Abe Kaoud, an entrepreneur that turned a New Haven rug cleaning business in the 1950s into a statewide retail chain seen on billboards and television ads, has passed away.

    According to his family, the co-founder of Kaoud Rugs passed away at the age of 83.

    In a post shared on Facebook on Thursday, the death of Abe Kaoud was announced by his sons, Maurice and Charlie.

    Maurice’s post said, “It is with deep sadness that I share the news of my father’s passing. He peacefully left us late last night surrounded by loved ones. Dad was a pillar of strength and wisdom in all our lives, and his presence will be missed. We are grateful for the moments we shared and the love he gave us all.”

    Kaoud’s wake is at the West Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the funeral is at Saint Barbara Church the following day at 10 a.m.
