NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven leaders met Friday to try and push out the word for students to apply for federal student aid.

“As we know, there have been some challenges working through FAFSA, but it is so important to ensuring that our young people have access to college,” Mayor Justin Elicker said.

The deadline for the 2024-25 academic year is open until June 30, 2025. There has been a decrease in how many Connecticut students apply.

Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs in New Haven has been given $158,000 to conduct community outreach and help families learn more.
