    Man drowns in Ohio River in Mason County

    NEW HAVEN, WV (WOWK) – A man has drowned in the Ohio River in New Haven, West Virginia.

    According to West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Captain Dewayne Duffield, the incident just before 11:30 a.m. along Mill Street in New Haven. He says the 78-year-old man was already deceased when he was pulled from the river.

    Duffield says the WV DNR is investigating, and at this time they are not sure how the man died. He says they do know he was “involved in some type of boating activity,” but they do not know exactly what happened yet.

    The DNR captain says it was a single-vessel incident and they do not believe any other watercraft were involved. Duffield also says no foul play is suspected.

    The Mason County Sheriff’s Office, New Haven Police Department, and New Haven Fire Department also responded to the scene.
