    Coroner identifies victim of Friday’s shooting in New Iberia

    NEW IBERIA, La. ( KLFY ) — The Iberia parish Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the victim of Friday’s shooting in New Iberia.

    According to the coroner’s office, the victim is 29-year-old Jakari Gregoire of New Iberia.

    UPDATE: Saturday, July 27:

    NEW IBERIA, La. — New Iberia police have confirmed that one person has died after a shooting Friday that occurred afternoon near Anderson Street and Field Street.

    The shooting remains under investigation.

    ORIGINAL STORY:

    NEW IBERIA, La. — One person is recovering in a local hospital from injuries suffered in a shooting this afternoon in New Iberia, authorities said.

    According to Capt. Leland Laseter with New Iberia Police, one person was injured in a shooting at approximately 2:30 p.m. today near the corner of Anderson Street and Field Street in New Iberia. While his condition was not released, officials said the victim underwent surgery, and is recovering.

    New Iberia Police are investigating. No other details have been released.
