Devils’ Jack & Luke Hughes Continue to Add to Impressive Resumes

The Hughes family has come a long way since oldest brother Quinn was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks on Jun. 22, 2018, in Dallas, Texas.

Since then, parents Jim and Ellen have witnessed their middle child Jack Hughes get selected first overall by the New Jersey Devils , and baby brother Luke Hughes follow in his footsteps a few short years later when general manager Tom Fitzgerald named him his club's fourth overall selection in 2021.

In addition to franchise records and NHL Award hardware, the Hughes brothers are adding another achievement to their resume.

On Thursday, EA Sports announced Devils Jack Hughes, Luke Hughes, and Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn as the cover athletes for NHL 25.

"Being on the cover with my brothers is incredibly exciting," said Luke Hughes in the press release. "We have a one-of-a-kind hockey story growing up together and now a one-of-a-kind cover. We can't wait for fans to experience NHL 25 ."

The trio are the first siblings to be featured together as EA SPORTS cover athletes.

Over five seasons, Jack has played 306 games and accumulated 281 points. At only 23 years old, he quickly became one of the League's most recognizable faces and was recently voted the ninth-best center by NHL Network.

The center has already broken multiple single-season records , including the franchise record of points earned in a single season, which Patrik Elias set in 2000-01.

Luke made his NHL debut on Apr. 11, 2023, against the Buffalo Sabres. It was the night Jack set the Devils single-season points record. The youngster's first career NHL goal came a few nights later against the Washington Capitals. It was the overtime game-winning goal, where Jack was credited with the primary assist.

In his first NHL season, the rookie defenseman earned 47 points in 82 games, the second-most points by a first-year blueliner in New Jersey Devils/Colorado Rockies/Kansas City Scouts history behind Barry Beck's 60 for the Rockies in the 1977-78 season.

Quinn (24), Jack (23), and Luke (20) are already making their own individual marks, becoming some of the most recognizable names in the League.

Quinn won the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in 2023-24, while Luke finished third in Calder Trophy voting. Jack is the only player to record three consecutive point-per-game seasons in Devils history despite his injuries last season.

Fans can watch all three Hughes brothers when the Devils visit Vancouver and play the Canucks on Oct. 30 and again on Mar. 24 when the two teams meet in New Jersey.

The Hughes trio became the ninth family in NHL history to have three or more brothers play in the same game. This impressive accomplishment should make Jim and Ellen proud as their sons continue to impact the League and, more importantly, support each other.

"On the ice, we're competitors, always learning from each other, but off the ice, we're brothers who love to play hockey," Jack said.
