The Former New Jersey Devils goalie, Keith Kinkaid has signed a professional tryout with the New York Islanders.

It has been reported that he will start the PTO by participating in the Islanders rookie camp.

If Kinkaid can sign a standard player contract with the Islanders, he will likely slot in as the third-string goalie who splits time with their AHL affiliate Bridgeport Islanders.

Kinkaid, 35, was an undrafted goalie prospect who signed with the Devils' organization. At the time, the thought was that he could take over the reins in the crease and be the starting goalie.

Unfortunately, things don't always work out and he became more of a journeyman.

He spent time with the aforementioned Devils, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, and Colorado Avalanche. For Kinkaid, the hope is that he can add the Islanders to that list of teams that he has played for.

In 169 career games at the NHL level, Kinkaid has a 70-58-21 record, a 2.91 GAA, and a .905 SV%.

As a New York native, who grew up an Islanders fan must be unreal to be able to say that he got to play for the Islanders, Rangers, and although it isn't in NY, the Devils. Who knows, maybe the Buffalo Sabres will be next on his list.
