Stepping into Faubourg Restaurant and Bar, I was immediately taken by the sophisticated and lively atmosphere. This modern French steakhouse in Montclair is not just about great food, but also about the whole experience. The 32 oz dry aged Ribeye was a standout, especially when paired with the peppercorn sauce. The Lamb Raghu Pasta was creamy and had a great texture.
The restaurant also caters to plant-based diets, with a separate menu and some delicious veggie appetizers. The chickpea dish was a standout. The oysters, rumored to be delivered fresh daily, were indeed fresh and added to the overall dining experience.
However, not everything was perfect. The apple tart was a bit disappointing, being flat and hard. The tarte flambée and orecchiette & lamb ragout were delicious, but the duck & fig terrine was just average and the portion was small. The lychee mimosa smelled like lychee but didn't quite deliver on taste.
Despite these minor setbacks, Faubourg Restaurant and Bar is a great place to bring a date or friends visiting town. The service is great, and they can even accommodate larger groups for private dining events. I'm definitely planning on coming back to try out different things on the menu.
