This is My Honest Review of The Old Spot Hotpot: A Spicy Adventure Awaits

Recently, I ventured into The Old Spot Hotpot, a place that used to be a hub for comfort food and gatherings. The nostalgia of chicken and pork belly hotpot with frozen tofu and fish noodles still lingers in my mind. However, my latest experiences have been a bit of a roller coaster. On one hand, the spicy broth is authentically fiery, a real treat for those who can handle the heat, and the selection of ingredients is generous. The atmosphere is relaxed, complemented by an unusual choice of chill jazz and classical music, which is a rare find in hotpot places.

However, not everything was as comforting as the music. The spice levels can be overwhelming, and it seems there's a mismatch in expectations when it comes to the heat of the dishes. Communication was a bit challenging, and the sauce bar could use some tidying up. Moreover, some diners, including myself, have had less than pleasant reactions to the food, feeling the need to recover the next day. It's a place with potential but might not cater to everyone's palate or stomach.
