The Fugees are working on a new album decades after their breakup in 1997. Their critically acclaimed second album, “The Score,” captivated audiences in 1996 with hits such as “Ready or Not,” “Fu-Gee-La,” and “Killing Me Softly.”

According to Page Six , Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Mitchell are actively working on their new album. Last November, Wyclef Jean dropped hints suggesting the group might be working on future projects and endeavors. Since their split, fans have eagerly awaited any reunion news, especially after recent performances. In June 2023, the group performed at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, followed by appearances at the Global Citizen’s Festival in Central Park and the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, later that year.

The announcement also coincides with the Fugees’ involvement in Lauryn Hill’s extended 25th anniversary tour for her 1998 album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” The tour will kick off in August with 21 dates across the United States and Europe. However, their path to this moment has not been without challenges. Originally slated to tour in 2021 for the 25th anniversary of “The Score,” the group faced setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group is currently preparing to headline Calissa Sounds in the Hamptons on August 1st.

The Fugees, a trio from New Jersey, rose to fame in the 90s with their unique blend of hip-hop, reggae, and R&B with socially conscious lyrics. Their second album, “The Score,” became a massive crossover success, selling millions and launching the solo careers of all three members. Despite their split, the group left a lasting legacy on hip-hop, influencing countless artists and securing their place in the genre.
