Burlington gains from another store’s losses

Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy last year, liquidating its assets and selling off its store locations throughout the country.

So far, Burlington has taken over more than 40 locations that used to belong to Bed Bath & Beyond.

Burlington isn’t the only one with this plan

The bankruptcy of Bed Bath & Beyond opened up retail space for other companies besides Burlington that wanted to take over leases or buy the properties.

Retailers such as Barnes & Noble, Michaels, and Macy’s have picked up former Bed Bath & Beyond spots.

    Burlington has done this before

Plenty of Burlington locations now stand in spaces that once belonged to other retailers.

Burlington has moved into spaces that used to be Circuit City, Toys “R” Us, or Sports Authority locations.

Michael O’Sullivan, the CEO of Burlington, said some of the company’s best locations used to be Sears or Kmart stores.

Where to find Bed Bath & Beyond now

Believe it or not, Bed Bath & Beyond is still around.

Bed Bath & Beyond is now an online-only retailer selling things such furniture, home accessories, decor, and more through a website.

The website was purchased by Overstock.com and is now part of Overstock’s portfolio. The company agreed to buy Bed Bath & Beyond’s name and e-commerce portfolio.

    Bottom line

If you are trying to get ahead financially , add Burlington to your list of retailers and look for bargains when you shop there.

And if you live in one of the cities on this list, keep your eye out for grand opening sales at the new Burlington in your community.
