Aaron Rodgers interview was ‘most awkward, horrible’ moment in show’s history: WFAN host

WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” does not have the same chemistry with Aaron Rodgers that Pat McAfee does.
Gregg Giannotti, who’s been doing the morning show with Boomer Esiason for seven years, called last year’s interview with Rodgers “the most awkward, horrible 18 minutes” in the show’s history.
“I’d rather you interview Aaron Rodgers than us after what happened last year,” Giannotti told Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, Esiason’s fill-in host for the week, on Wednesday.
“And I’m dead serious about that. I don’t need another crack at that. I’m fine. Honestly, you can have that, I don’t need to interview him again.”

Rodgers was on the “ Boomer and Gio Show ” on Aug. 15, 2023, and didn’t crack many smiles throughout the appearance, while also showing up late to the guest spot due to traffic.
“I don’t think he ever looked at us. Not one time … It was a combination of everything. It was him being upset, us freaking out when he wasn’t playing along,” Giannotti said. “The whole thing was just turds in a blender.”
Rodgers was asked in the interview about doing the dishes at his New Jersey house after The Post reported that Rodgers had just purchased an eight-bedroom $9.5 million estate in New Jersey.

However, as the conversation progressed, Rodgers said he “didn’t want to talk about where he lived,” and some awkward music began playing over the voices of the two show hosts.
“I led with, ‘Does he buy his own furniture?’ And he was not happy. Boomer went to a dishwashing story, he was even angrier,” Giannotti told Stugotz, who works on the “Dan Le Batard Show.”

Rodgers’ WFAN interview came during his first training camp with the Jets, which was documented by “Hard Knocks.”
Rodgers’ season only ended up lasting one possession as he tore his Achilles in the season-opening win over the Bills.

Rodgers, 40, and the Jets reported for training camp in Florham Park, N.J., on Tuesday as the football season rapidly approaches.
Giannotti and Esiason will be at Jets camp later this summer, though it’s unclear if Rodgers will appear on the show or if these comments will impact his chances of doing so.

McAfee, whose show is broadcast on ESPN, is tight with Rodgers and regularly gives the future Hall of Famer the runway to delve into many topics outside of football during his weekly appearances.
