‘This Is Not Quid Pro Quo’: Trump Fumes He Did ‘All These Things’ For Israel And Didn’t Win More Jewish Votes

Former President Donald Trump gave a bombastic speech about Jewish Democrats and Israel over the weekend, in which he claimed if he’s not reelected Israel will not exist for “very long,” he lamented the waning power of the “Israel lobby,” and slammed the “Jewish family” that runs the New York Times.

Trump spoke at a fundraiser in New Jersey on Sunday hosted by Syrian Jewish real estate developers. Jewish Insider reported that the minimum donation to attend was $3,300, but some donors gave between $250,000-$500,000 “to host or co-host the event.”

During his lengthy remarks, Trump listed off all of the pro-Israel moves he made during his administration, from moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem to recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and lamented that this did not earn him Jewish votes.

“I do all these things. No president has ever been so good to Israel by far as I have, and I got 26%. I went from 25 to 26%. I’ve been watching over the last two years, watching as you are being decimated by this stupid human being who’s in the White House. He’s a stupid president, crooked Joe Biden … What happened is, think of it, I do all these things. This is not quid pro quo. I was unbelievable for Israel. I got one point extra,” Trump said, adding:

For all this, I ended up at 26%. I will say this, I did very well in Miami … but that shouldn’t happen. We have to win this election. We need the Jewish people to vote for Trump. If you don’t have Jewish people voting for Republicans, including people in the House, including people in the Senate, you’re not going to have Israel for very long.

Trump, who is known for his transactional approach to politics, also took aim at Jewish Democrats, as he has done repeatedly in recent days and throughout his time in politics.

“How about [Sen. Chuck] Schumer? I’ve known him. You know I gave him his first political contribution. … He’s become a Palestinian. What happened to this guy? He is not for Israel,” Trump fumed, adding:

You have many people, Jewish people in this country that hate Israel. Somebody has to teach these people that hate Israel that Israel is a good thing, not a bad thing. You have people at The New York Times, run essentially by a Jewish family, and they hate Israel. They treat them so badly. I read articles and now that I’m so into it I read a lot … the level of hatred they have for Israel is just incredible. You have people like Schumer, you have politicians actually going to the other side. I guess maybe there’s more votes or something.

Trump then lamented the waning influence of AIPAC, which while a pro-Israel group is comprised of Americans and does not operate through the state of Israel.

“Fifteen years ago, the strongest lobby in the U.S. was Israel. You couldn’t say a bad thing about Israel, if you said a bad thing about Israel you were out of politics. … You were gone, you wouldn’t have had a chance. Today it’s almost the opposite. Jewish people that are elected officials like Schumer are afraid to say anything good about Israel,” Trump fumed.
