Three things to know

First responders do well in exercise. On April 27, a Perry County full-scale emergency response exercise was held in Crooksville. It involved a tanker truck colliding with a passenger bus. County personnel were evaluated on eight different objectives and passed all eight. Learn more on page B4.

Bike with the health department. May is National Bike month, and the Perry County Health Department is celebrating National Bike Day on May 15, with open bike riding at the Perry County Fairgrounds from 4-7 p.m. See column on page A7.

Time again to remember heroic journalist. This year’s annual MacGahan Festival in New Lexington will take place on Saturday, June 8. It will begin at 11 a.m. with a memorial service at the New Lexington Cemetery. Learn more on page B5.
