Culver-Stockton College welcomes Kirkham as director of development
CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College recently announced the appointment of Michelle Kirkham as its director of development. A 2010 graduate of Culver-Stockton College with a degree in business administration, Kirkham earned a certificate in fundraising and development foundations from the University of California-Davis in 2023. She joins Culver-Stockton College after a successful tenure at Quincy University, where she helped with fundraising efforts. She coordinated all aspects of the QU Fund, leading to three consecutive years of record-breaking success in meeting and exceeding annual fund goals. She spearheaded faculty and staff giving, achieving a 98 percent participation rate for two years.

Body of Missing 47-Year-Old Man Recovered from Mississippi River in Memphis
The Memphis Police Department has recovered the body of 47-year-old Gary Riley who was reported missing after his boat capsized in the Mississippi River last Friday. Officials resumed their search early Saturday morning and made the grim discovery at approximately 10:10 a.m., as confirmed by Action News 5. Assistant Chief Don Crowe of the Memphis Police Department had indicated the day prior that they believed the body to be that of the missing boater after it was taken to the medical examiner’s office.

Western Illinois Summer Camp Shows Off Opportunities for Rural Students
Underserved youth were given an opportunity to develop their interest in enrolling in higher education at Western Illinois University in mid-July. High school students from school districts in Peoria, Monmouth, Beardstown and Macomb attended the Addressing Equity Gaps Among Rural Students summer camp at WIU, a project funded by the Department of Education’s Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Program (RPED). The camp was held July 16-17.
