The Major League Baseball Draft kicks off on Sunday, the first of three days that will see all thirty MLB teams take part in a twenty round draft. Franchises will choose a variety of high schoolers and college athletes to fill out their farm system and build for the future. Among them will be several West Virginia University stars, just as there has been for many years now. For ten straight drafts - not counting the 2020 COVID draft when there were only five rounds - a Mountaineer has been selected. That will continue this year, likely within the first few picks of the first round thanks to shortstop JJ Wetherholt.
