Sara Bareilles Will Play Benefit Concert for Williamstown Theatre Festival
Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced Grammy winner and Tony nominee Sara Bareilles will play a benefit concert July 28 at 3 PM on the Main Stage. East-West rail project picks up $123 million in funding
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has officially allocated $123 million for expanded passenger rail service between the western part of the state and Boston. The funding comes from the federal government and is part of Massachusetts Department of Transportation's latest capital improvement plan. The money will help cover several critical elements to the project, including track improvements between Springfield and Worcester. Other pieces are design work for a new station in Palmer, initial steps towards reconfiguring rails in Springfield to handle more traffic, increasing capacity in Pittsfield and planning to connect Albany, N.Y. and Boston with more rail service.

On Tuesday, outgoing 3rd Berkshire District State Representative Smitty Pignatelli hosted a visit from Congressman Richard Neal in his capacity as interim Lenox, Massachusetts town manager. The Democrat is stepping down this year after representing the Southern Berkshires in the state legislature for more than two decades. Pignatelli, a Lenox native, stepped in to lead the town while it searches for a replacement for Christopher Ketchen, who left this year after a decade. The state rep says he is not interested in the permanent position, and continues to abstain from endorsing in the four-way race to replace him on Beacon Hill. Pignatelli spoke with WAMC Berkshire Bureau Chief Josh Landes about the $750,000 federal earmark to restore the historic Lenox town hall that brought Neal to the Berkshires and more.
Albany man accused of public lewdness at Empire State Plaza
