Countdown to the 7th Annual Back Home Festival in New Martinsville Begins

NEW MARTINSVILLE, W.Va. (WTRF) — It’s the calm before the storm in one local town.

At this time tomorrow, the normally quiet streets of New Martinsville will be packed with nearly one hundred crafts, vendors, and food trucks, and that’s only part of this summertime tradition.

Nearly 15,000 people will be heading to Wetzel County for the 7th Annual Back Home Festival.

The three-day event has been voted the Best Festival in the State by West Virginia Living Magazine and features over twenty local and national touring bands.

Organizers say this year’s lineup is one of the best ever.

This weekend, you can expect to see a great weekend of music. We’ve got The Wailers, Big Brother, and the Holding Company, Sierra Hull, who is the multiple mandolinist of the year. The Wailers is the band that backed up Bob Marley for all those years. Big Brother backed up Janis Joplin for all those years. It’s the real deal, not a tribute act.”

In addition to the great music, folks can enjoy hot air balloon rides this year for the first time.

That’s weather permitting – of course.

There will also be hula-hoop workshops for kids and a cardio drumming session on Saturday morning.

Free tent camping is available at the New Martinsville Marina, with RV camping at the nearby 4-H campgrounds.
