April Sets Record For The Hottest In History

    By Douglas McIntyre,

    2024-05-08

According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, last month was the hottest April in history, and this has been the case for the 11th month in a row. The organization reports, “April 2024 was warmer globally than any previous April in the data record, with an average ERA5 surface air temperature of 15.03°C, 0.67°C above the 1991-2020 average for April and 0.14°C above the previous high set in April 2016.”

April was also 1.58°C warmer than an estimate for April when the average was across 1850-1900. This time frame is considered the industrial reference period.   The date range is that against which global warming is measured.

Arctic ice also melted at a rapid pace.

Climatecrisis247 believes this is another sign that the effort to combat global warming, both by nations and industries, continues to fail. It also means that there is a chance that the world will not reach its goal of containing climate change at a level that will lower the chance of ongoing climate catastrophes. Efforts by industries and countries will fail.
