Power outages after severe storms in NEPA
The cleanup work is underway from last night's band of heavy thunderstorms that knocked down trees and power lines in several parts of the area. Officials in Lackawanna County say a Carbondale man was struck by lightning through a window, and a downed tree knocked out power for many residents at Harvey's Lake. Many people are still without power, and PPL says that some areas may not have power fully restored until this afternoon or tonight.

Police: Four escape injury in gunfire in Lackawanna County
DICKSON CITY, Pa. — Four people escaped injury Tuesday when a gunman shot at their car in Lackawanna County, authorities said. The investigation began around 1:30 a.m. upon reports of gunfire on Commerce Boulevard near Business Route 6 in Dickson City. Borough Police Chief William Bilinski said a man reportedly fired at least twice at a car occupied by four people.
Binghamton Deli Ordered Closed by City Just After Opening
A business that set up shop at the former site of a Binghamton Subway restaurant was open for a short time before it was directed by a code enforcement officer to close. A Johnson City man had worked for months to renovate the building at Conklin and Tompkins streets to get the place ready. Binghamton May OK Marijuana-Growing in Commercial Building
A cannabis cultivation operation is being planned for a site just outside downtown Binghamton. Developer Eric Rundels wants to grow marijuana in an 11,000-square-foot building at 225 Chenango Street.
