NEW ORLEANS, La. (BRPROUD) – The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra made history at the Grammy Awards by becoming the first orchestra nominated in a regional roots album category.

The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra won a Grammy in the Best Regional Roots Album category for “LIVE: Orpheum Theater NOLA” at the 66th Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 4. LPO is the first orchestra to be nominated in this category.

Executive Director of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Anwar Nasir said the album was a collaborative effort with the Lost Bayou Ramblers. They also tied with Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. & The Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band.
