He certainly didn't take the most traditional route to the Saints' 90-man roster, but defensive back Roderic Teamer will be sticking around after all.

The Saints are expected to sign the former Tulane standout after his second tryout, according to reports. No corresponding move has yet been announced.

Teamer played four seasons with the Green Wave, finishing second on the team with 72 tackles in his senior season. He initially joined the Saints as a rookie minicamp tryout, but did not return for any of the three OTA sessions. He was back on the field as a tryout for this month's minicamp, apparently doing enough to impress coaches that they'll be bringing him back for the full camp. He will likely have to find a new number, as he was wearing 35, currently worn on the offensive side by another UDFA in former UL running back Jacob Kibodi.

Originally a UDFA with the L.A. Chargers in 2019, Teamer has also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts (2021) and was with the Las Vegas Raiders each of the past three seasons. In his career he's appeared in 40 games (11 starts) with 103 tackles and an interception.

With the Teamer signing the Saints now have four former New Orleans prep football stars. Teamer went to Brother Martin, S Tyrann Mathieu and WR Stanley Morgan attended St. Aug and TE Foster Moreau prepped at Jesuit. The Saints have brought in a handful of former Tulane players the last few seasons, including OL Cam Wire, who was another tryout player at minicamp.

The Saints have now made a pair of signings following their minicamp, along with TE Jesper Horsted. The Saints are dealing with several injuries this offseason, though none are at the safety position. Rookie CB Kool-Aid McKinstry is currently working back from a foot injury, but is expected to be back on the field for the full camp, which will officially begin with their first practice on July 24 in Irvine, California.
