Northshore becoming economic powerhouse, with more growth on the way!

The Northshore continues to see growth in economic opportunities with St Tammany Parish leaders ready for more.

And while economic growth may be a sign of the attractiveness of the area, not everyone wants to grow too much, too fast.

St. Tammany Chamber Chairman, Chris Abadie, says he understands many residents relish in the suburban nature of the area, however, growth has its benefits.

“Revenue from new business can go toward some of the infrastructure issues that we have. That money could be used to address concerns.”

Another opportunity for growth for the Northshore lies in the Port of New Orleans’s expansion into St Bernard parish.

Chairman Abadie’s excitement lies in the parish’s natural attractiveness to the industrial and logistics sector.

“With our proximity to I-10, 59, and 12, higher elevation, and access to rail, the industry will have presence on the Northshore.”

Abadie, like many others, can see the potential impacts of the new terminal being positive to the entire region and that everyone embracing more of a unified approach is the key.

“The part St. Tammany can play is providing those land and space opportunities, but you will see Orleans Parish and all surrounding areas benefitting from this.”
