The jobs of the future are here today and one industry that is growing right in our area is Aerospace Technology and Manufacturing.

The NASA Michoud facility in New Orleans East has been the nation's premiere site for manufacturing and assembly of large-scale space structures. Now, the state looks to train and recruit individuals for jobs in the industry.

The Aerospace States Association, better known as the ASA, is holding their annual meeting in New Orleans.

The organization groups together Lt. Governors and other state government delegates with leaders in the Aerospace industry to collaborate on policy, exploration, and workforce development.

“We are hosting this year and we hope to highlight the opportunities in the Space Industry.”

Their being here is no coincidence and should raise hope as to the industry's future in the Louisiana.

“We have the Michoud facility and Stennis is close. There are many job opportunities and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work at NASA.”

The Lt. Governor is excited about the association's mission to develop industry specific workforce and networking opportunities and encourages others to look toward the youth to be able to sustain the future of Aerospace in Louisiana.

“It can start in high school getting them excited about Aerospace and having vocational programs available.”
