The Greater New Orleans area's hospitality industry is on the verge of recovering from the pandemic, at least as far as the tax revenue it generates is concerned.

"It looks like the hotel taxes are going to finish the year pretty close to the 2019 levels," said Doug Thornton, Vice President of ASM Global, the company that manages the Superdome and Smoothie King Center for the state of Louisiana.

"We're within probably a million dollars off, total," he said, "which was a high-water mark for us."

Thornton told the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District that they are forecasting a roughly $3 million surplus as their fiscal year comes to an end.
